What is the Mid-Year Bonus?
The mid-year bonus is equivalent to one month of your basic salary as of May 15. It is governed mainly by DBM Budget Circular No. 2017-2.
To qualify, you generally need to render at least four months of service from July 1 of the previous year to May 15 of the current year, remain in government service as of May 15, and have at least a satisfactory performance rating.
For DepEd mid-year bonus 2026, DBM reported release beginning May 15, 2026 under the same framework. Actual crediting dates may differ by division payroll processing.
What is the Year-End Bonus and Cash Gift?
The year-end bonus is equivalent to one month basic salary based on your rate as of October 31. The cash gift is ₱5,000 for qualified personnel.
Under Budget Circular No. 2024-3, both are released with the first agency payroll in November instead of waiting until November 15.
Eligibility generally requires at least four months of service from January 1 to October 31 and active status as of October 31.
What is PEI?
The Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) is a ₱5,000 annual benefit under Budget Circular No. 2017-4, paid not earlier than December 15 when authorized for the fiscal year.
Typical conditions include still being in service as of November 30 and rendering at least four months of satisfactory service.
Teachers receive PEI only when the national budget and DBM issuance authorize it for that fiscal year. FY 2025 was covered by Circular Letter No. 2025-13. For FY 2026, check the DBM website for a new circular letter.
What is SRI?
The Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) is a one-time benefit granted in some fiscal years to recognize government workers.
For FY 2025, Administrative Order No. 40, s. 2025 and Budget Circular No. 2025-3 authorized SRI at a uniform rate not exceeding ₱20,000, subject to agency funding. The amount actually received may be lower than ₱20,000 if funds are not enough.
SRI is not guaranteed every year. It depends on presidential authorization and available funds. FY 2026 SRI is not yet officially confirmed as of this writing.
What is Clothing Allowance?
The clothing and uniform allowance helps personnel buy prescribed uniforms. For FY 2026, DepEd reported ₱7,000 for teachers and personnel, with release not earlier than the first working day of April, subject to DBM fund release.
Because release depends on NCA/SARO and division payroll, confirm the schedule through your School Division Office and official DepEd issuances.
What is Teaching Allowance?
The teaching allowance (formerly often called chalk allowance) supports purchase of teaching supplies and incidental classroom expenses.
Under RA No. 11997 (Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act), the allowance is ₱5,000 for SY 2024–2025 (transition) and ₱10,000 for SY 2025–2026 and thereafter. DepEd Order No. 005, s. 2025 provides implementing guidelines.
Release is generally not earlier than the official start of the school year, unless DepEd authorizes otherwise.
What is PBB?
The Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) rewards agencies that meet performance criteria under the government's performance-based bonus framework (EO No. 201 and related issuances).
PBB is not automatic every year. The percentage depends on the agency score. Release depends on DBM authorization, DepEd eligibility confirmation, and fund release to divisions. Even when approved nationally, division-level release dates vary.
DBM and DepEd announced eligibility for FY 2023 PBB at up to 52% of monthly basic salary for qualified personnel, but that is not a guarantee for 2026. Watch for official announcements for each fiscal year. Read our PBB explainer for more context.
Why actual net pay may be different
Your ATM deposit is usually net pay, not gross salary. Common deductions include GSIS premiums and loan amortizations, Pag-IBIG contributions and loans, PhilHealth contributions, withholding tax, and other lawful payroll deductions.
Two teachers with the same position may have different net pay because of salary step, loans, leave without pay, or payroll timing. When net pay runs out before the 15th, the problem is often structural, not personal budgeting failure. Our guide on salary running out before payday speaks to that experience honestly.
